Textiles are fundamental products in our everyday life and due to the growing world population and the introduction of Fast-Fashion, we have more textile waste than ever. Texperium is researching the economic and environmental effectiveness of textile fibre recycling. How we can recycle these textile and why only 1% is circular recycled yet?

About us:
Texperium is an Open Innovation Centre based in the Netherlands with national and international impact in the textile industry. Texperium has 10 year experience in working in research and development to create high-performance yarns out of mechanically recycled or bio-based sources. In the last 10 years, they build experience in research and development and they participated in more than 25 projects with a partner from all around the world. Texperium is specialized in advising and innovation in the field of textiles within yarn production and mechanically recycling. Their profession lies especially in industrial and mechanical engineering. Texperium can develop and improve mechanically recycling manufacturing processes.

Our team consists of driven researchers and textile Engineers. A small and hard-working group of people who are there for one another. We work in close collaboration with our project partners who are globally and EU spread. Mechanical and Electrical Engineer colleague work in our innovation plant. As a graduate/intern, you will be given space to develop yourself, both personally and in terms of your specialism as a researcher. You really are a part of the team and will get all the support you need from the Texperium team. You work hard, independently and show initiative. Furthermore, you will have the freedom and at the same time take responsibility to structure and execute your research.

What are you going to do?
This assignment will focus on the mapping of textile recycling activities and technologies at global, EU and the Member States level. It is part of a European tender project wherein the intern shall provide a detailed analysis of the current recycling activities carried out globally and in the EU at an industrial level, with, as far as possible, the support of comprehensive data.

Also, the analysis shall focus on case studies of existing business models, interactions between economic actors along the textile and clothing value chain and interactions between economic actors across different value chains. Texperium has a large network in Europe and is able to contact the stakeholders in the recycling industry, industry organizations and machine-building industry.

For the different technologies available, it will also focus on the requirements in order to
ensure how textile waste must be treated and sorted before entering the recycling process of the specific technology.

WE OFFER:
A challenging graduation or internship assignment at the interface of scientific theory and practice in collaboration with an international research team. A company with a pleasant working environment. During your graduation project, you will be assigned an experienced guide or coach who is also working in the research. The graduation assignment can start in July 2020 (August / September in consultation).
